Practice relocation: treating well in new premises
A practice relocation is both an opportunity and a challenge. On the one hand, a practice move is associated with tasks that you would not otherwise face in your daily work. On the other hand, it offers the optimal opportunity to bring your equipment and thus also your work up to date – an investment from which both you and your patients will benefit.
As a doctor, you spend a large part of your time in the practice. Your working environment is therefore directly related to your personal well-being. At the same time, you can be there for your patients in the best possible way in a pleasant working atmosphere. In bright and inviting rooms, they will feel more comfortable with you than ever before. These are many good reasons for moving your practice. But what is the best way to proceed?
Practice relocation: four steps to success
A practice relocation is as individual as your work as a doctor, but there are still some factors that need to be taken into account in any case. We therefore provide you with valuable tips that will make your practice removal a success, so that you will soon be able to treat your patients in your new premises.
1. Start planning early
First, set a date for your practice relocation and start planning from there. Inform your employees and find out how they can support you with the move. Also remember to inform your patients about the upcoming changes early on. As soon as the date of the move is set, it is also useful to already take care of an application for registration with the health insurance company. You can find further necessary documents and applications in our moving checklist for offices.
2. Organise the transition period
If you move your practice, it may be necessary to close it for a short time. Take this into account when making appointments and ensure that you have a substitute during the transition period whom your patients can see in case of illness. Longer downtimes of your practice can be avoided as far as possible during a practice removal if you plan the move at the weekend or over the holidays.
3. Support with the relocation of the practice
Especially when moving a practice, it can be helpful to hand over the work to professionals. After all, heavy and sometimes bulky furniture and technical equipment need to be moved safely to the new location. A moving company will help you with the assembly and disassembly of your relocation goods and will join forces to ensure that all your practice equipment arrives at the new practice in one piece.
4. Preparing the new practice
While your moving company takes care of the lion’s share of the practice relocation, you can already make preparations for the new practice: Work out a concept for the interior design early on to create a feel-good atmosphere in the treatment rooms. Furthermore, order a new practice sign as well as business cards and address stickers with the new address. You can also put up a sign in front of your old practice informing people about your practice move.
