Moving tool that you need
Moving requires tools – there’s no question about that: furniture needs to be dismantled and reassembled, renovation work needs to be done in the old or new apartment, and lamps, pictures and mirrors are waiting to be installed. These are just a few of the situations that arise during a move and which make various tools absolutely necessary. You simply can’t do without them! But what exactly is important? We tell you which tools belong in every toolbox.
Tools for the move: drill, combination pliers, spirit level, and co.
Tools are just as relevant for the move as moving boxes, moving helpers, and professional load securing of the moving goods. And basically not only there: A well-stocked toolbox belongs in every household, because small and larger crafts always come up. So move or not, you need these tools in any case:
- Screwdriver and Allen wrench:
You’ll need these tools for moving to take down and assemble furniture, mount pictures, and install lamps. Both slotted and cross-slotted screwdrivers are recommended – ideally in different sizes. Allen wrenches are usually included when you buy new furniture.
- Screws and dowels:
Clearly, where something is built or attached, screws or dowels are also needed. These should also be in different sizes.
- Locksmith’s hammer and rubber mallet:
Locksmith hammers and rubber hammers are among the most commonly used types of hammers that also do a great job during a move. They are suitable for getting nails into walls or wood, or for laying laminate or parquet flooring.
- Combination pliers, pipe wrenches and side cutters:
As the name of the combination pliers suggests, this is a tool for moving that you can use to do a variety of tasks: cutting, turning nails, and tightening nuts. Pipe wrenches and side cutters are the right tools for the handymen and women among you when moving. They can be used to install electrical appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers, and the like yourself.
- Folding rule and tape measure:
In most cases, even before you move, you will need tools such as a folding rule and tape measure to measure the new home, so you can check which of the furniture you already have will fit in which room or against which wall, as well as to take measurements for buying new furniture.
- Spirit level:
The spirit level shows you if you have really set up your furniture straight. When moving, this tool is therefore indispensable.
- Phase tester and line tester:
A phase tester, or voltage tester, is useful when connecting lamps, sockets and light switches because it tells you if there is electricity on the power line. You use the line tester, for example, to check where cables and lines are running before attaching wall murals so that they remain undamaged.
Moving with the right tools and moving company
The move succeeds with the right tools in no time. However, it is important to focus on the quality of the individual tools. Therefore, check the current DIN standards and TÜV seals. If your toolbox is not yet well stocked and you have to buy a lot of new utensils, this can quickly become expensive. Therefore, ask your friends and acquaintances: Maybe you can borrow one or another tool. This option is now also offered by some hardware stores. This way you save money and still don’t have to do without high-quality tools.
Of course, the whole thing is even more comfortable with a moving company like Umzüge Mansholt at your side.
